AAU–IUFoST SCIENTIFIC ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

The AAU–IUFoST Scientific Roundtable Discussion (SRD), titled “Re-developing African Traditional Foods for Industrial Production and International Markets: Unlocking Global Markets through Innovation, Standards, and Strategic Partnerships,” was successfully held on 6 August 2026.

The Roundtable brought together experts and stakeholders from academia, industry, regulatory bodies, and international organisations to discuss opportunities for advancing African traditional foods through science, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole, Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), said:

African traditional foods possess all these qualities. What remains is the deliberate application of science, innovation, and strategic marketing to position them competitively on the world stage.

Prof. Pavinee Chinachoti, Acting President of IUFoST, said:

By linking rigorous scientific research with private sector agro-processors, we can turn indigenous crops into safe, shelf-stable, and highly marketable global commodities.

We warmly congratulate the Association of African Universities (AAU) and IUFoST on the successful Roundtable and sincerely thank all speakers, panelists, organisers, and participants for their valuable contributions and engagement.
