*Criteria: The individual must be in his/her first tenure-track position or with a reputable research institute, i.e. with the potential for permanent employment, and it must not be more than five years after completing the last postdoctoral position. The individual would normally be less than 35 years of age at the time of the award.

To be considered in evaluation of the nomination by the award jury will be the strength and value of initial contributions to food science and technology through one or more of the following: number of peer-reviewed and other publications, patents, licenses; peer recognition – involvement in review panels and with refereed journal manuscripts; leadership positions; actions to improve the Food Science and Technology education or dissemination in the country or around the world (through courses, workshops, publication, etc.), invitations to speak at national and international conferences; and activities in professional organizations/institutes.
