Early Career Scientist Section – Inaugural Committee Announced
The members of the Early Career Scientist Section Inaugural Committee have been announced by the Academy Executive Council. This committee will lead in developing the structure and activities of this new section of the Academy. The ECS Section was formed to promote high standards of ethics and scientific endeavour among food scientists and technologists and to formalize a relationship for the young scientists selected to speak at the IUFoST World Food Congresses, chosen for exemplifying the best in young science from among nominations by IUFoST Adhering Bodies and members worldwide.

Food Fraud Symposium Proposes Alliance of Thought Leaders and Follow-up Meeting
Regulators and experts from academia, government and industry from around the world embraced the development of an alliance of thought leaders and the proposal of a second Rendez-Vous meeting to address the challenges associated with global food fraud following two-days of high-level presentations and panels at the Towards Global Prevention and Mitigation of Food Fraud Symposium (Quebec City, Canada, April 4-5). The symposium highlighted the varied aspects of food fraud and the related negative impacts along food supply chains and on consumer confidence. Expert speakers and panelists from many disciplines presented the latest developments in food fraud detection, prevention, mitigation and management.

Delia Rodriguez-Amaya – Professor Emeritus
The title of Professor Emeritus was conferred on Delia Rodriguez-Amaya, past-president of IAFoST, by the Rector of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) during a ceremony on April 6. Dr. Amaya-Rodriguez becomes the second Professor Emeritus in the 50-year history of the UNICAMP Faculty of Food Engineering.

World Food Congress – Please note
DATE MOVED to October 23-27, 2018
IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology, Mumbai, India
The dates for the 2018 World Food Congress have moved. Pre-Congress Working Group and Workshops and associated Adhering Body events are scheduled for October 23, with Congress opening ceremonies taking place on October 24. The Congress ends with the IUFoST General Assembly on October 27. Plans for the programme are well underway and details will be provided as they progress.
