Food Sustainability Idea/Concept Development Competition

Sustainability issues for food and drinking water are key topics of IUFoST’s current and future agenda. This is emphasized by its involvement in the Future Earth project (, as well as by the Sustainability task force led by Martin Cole, CSIRO, Australia. As sustainability of our planet is directly affecting their futures and related health and quality of life, young scientists are invited to participate in the Food Sustainability Idea/Concept Development Competition.

Submissions should focus on
a) How we improve the public dialogue about the role of food processing for sustainable food production and health
b) How food science and technology can contribute to food and nutrition security whilst ensuring the future sustainability of our planet.

Topic suggestions are offered in the competition details, but creativity and innovation beyond them are encouraged. The top six proposals will be formally acknowledged at the World Food Congress and three winners will be selected and invited to briefly present their submissions during one of the Congress Sustainability sessions.

The application deadline is TBA. Find competition details here.
